We help children who come from very, very poor backgrounds in Ghana. Most of these kids are orphans. They don’t have any money or any means for feeding themselves. They can’t go to school because they have to try to find something to eat. Mostly they eat just once a day. Many of these kids have lost both parents, so the oldest sibling has the responsibility to try to find a job and feed the younger ones. No matter if the oldest one is just 10 or 12 years old. Life on the streets is very dangerous, and all these kids have a huge risk to end up using drugs and commit crimes. Girls also have a high risk to become a prostitute, and in many cases, teenage pregnancies.
Football is very popular in Ghana. Almost all Ghanaians love football. That’s why we use football as a tool to get the kids off the streets. We arrange football trainings for these street kids. They have passion for football, and they have talent. Even 4-year-old kids are ready to walk many kilometers to the training in the heat of Africa, and they don’t even complain because they love it so much.
In co-operation with ProPillers Foundation, we have arranged for these kids a place to live, but unfortunately, this rental place is in a very bad shape. They deserve a better place. Together with our Ghanaian partner, we have bought 20 acres of land in one of the villages in Ghana near the Volta River.
These kids deserve a safe and permanent place where they can live and sleep comfortably. A place they can call a home and live together as one big family. Including good and healthy food, clothes, shoes, and taking care of their health. We will also continue their football trainings because that gives them so much happiness and joy.
We will put all of them to school for a good education and studying some occupation. This will guarantee that they will have a possibility to take care of themselves and their family in the future.
