Our goal is to have a self-sufficient farm which will be used to feed the kids who have been living on the streets for years without enough food.
Feeding 100 street kids means lots of food every day. That’s the reason why we want to start our own farm. 20 acres of land which we have in the Volta region is definitely big enough to have a farm besides a hostel where kids will live.
We are going to farm tomatoes, green pepper, habanero pepper, onions, okra, maize, potatoes, and beans. Besides, our farm's biggest part will be a poultry farm. We are also going to plant lots of fruit trees like mango, banana, coconut, and papaya.
In addition to providing food, the farm will serve as an educational tool. It will teach the kids valuable skills in agriculture, which could empower them to become self-sufficient in the future.
Our own farm will also give a great possibility for the kids to learn about farming. Maybe some of them will become farmers. That’s one option they can do in the future and how to take care of themselves and their family.
